PR Tip: Half-Year Review

It’s the first week of July and peak vacation season. PR professionals should use the quiet months of summer to proactively recap their program’s half-year accomplishments.

The accomplishments should be measured directly to the objectives set at the beginning of the year. Highlight results in the areas of strengths, noting the strategies and tactics that worked and why. This is also the time to review any objectives that may be coming up short and make appropriate changes to the program or objectives. It’s not always a bad thing if objectives aren’t being met. PR programs should be fluid and evolving just as the company’s competitive landscape is. However, proactively addressing any shortfalls with recommendations on how you’ll get the program back on track will reinforce management’s confidence in you and your team.

Didn’t set goals and measurable objectives at the beginning of the year? Do it now!
